Prof. Pierre Layrolle

Prof. Pierre Layrolle, is research director at INSERM, ToNIC in Toulouse, France. He obtained a PhD cum laude related to calcium phosphate biomaterials at the Polytechnic National Institute of Toulouse in 1994. After a 2-years post-doctorate in Tsukuba, Japan, he joined the tissue engineering company IsoTis in the Netherlands where he was senior researcher. In 2003, he entered INSERM in Nantes and conducted bone tissue engineering research associating stem cells and biomaterials. In 2007, Pierre Layrolle was the recipient of the Jean Leray Award from the European Society for Biomaterials. In 2021, he moved to Toulouse directing research on 3D bio printing of human tissues and organoids on chip. He is the inventor of 16 patents, authored about 250 peer-reviewed publications (19,480 citations, h-index 75) and regularly invited to present at international conferences.
